Designer, close Pinterest and open a book!

→ Okay, it doesn't (necessarily) have to be a book - But when you seek inspiration only on Pinterest or Behance, you're browsing a sea of creations that have already been filtered through the eyes of other designers. And that limits your ability to create something truly original. Creativity is like a muscle: it needs to be exercised outside the comfort zone.

Exploring new art forms - such as cinema, literature, music, photography - broadens your repertoire and feeds your mind with new perspectives. Great artistic movements were born from the fusion of different areas. The surrealists drank from psychoanalysis, modernism was inspired by industrial innovations. The more varied your cultural background, the richer your creative output will be. If you only see and study ready-made projects, you will only reproduce the fusion of things that have already been finalized. Experimenting with other languages, even if they seem distant, brings new ideas to your work.

Watching a classic movie, reading an experimental novel, listening to an independent band... all of this fuels your creativity in unexpected ways. Go out for coffee, the world has much more to offer than a board saved in 2018 (I promise you).

Pinterest gives you references, life gives you repertoire - and a good repertoire is what differentiates great projects from good reproductions.
